French photographer Jean-Francois Largot was lucky enough to witness and document this incredible moment in Kenya’s Masai Mara wildlife reserve. While a lioness scanned the horizon, her cub wandered too close to a steep cliff and fell. The cub avoided a fatal drop, managing to cling to the edge midway down. But it wasn’t enough to save itself. The lioness, hearing her cub’s desperate cries, immediately rushed to the scene, joined by four other lionesses.
